You could call 2010 the “season of almost” for the Lions. They almost won their season opener with a late jump-ahead touch down (they lost after Calvin Johnson through the ball down in celebration and the catch was ruled incomplete on a technicality). They almost upset a very competitive, if a bit weary Jets team (this mess deserves its own paragraph below). They almost were 4-4.
Seeing Stars is the kind of wonderful experience you hope for every time you see a live show. This is a rock band that seems truly committed to their craft (pun partially intended as they are on the label Arts&Crafts, hardy har har!). The show cemented in my mind their status as one of the most powerful and creative forces in independent rock today. If you haven’t heard Stars, you should listen to them. And if you haven’t seen them, you SHOULD, it is well worth the $17 admission fee (or whatever it was after Ticketmaster’s cut).

For those of you who prefer a slight chill in the air as opposed to humidity, your calendar probably looks a lot like mine…a big red circle around September 22, the first day of fall. And if you love the season as much as I do, you’re itching to dive right into all things autumn.
The last weekend of August heralded a festival brimming full of artistic talent. Every art form was represented; from sculpture to fashion Detroit has it all!
Detroit will finally receive its time in the limelight as the focus of a new prime time TV show, with a controversial focus on crime. This show is cited to be ABC’s breakout title this season.
